Programs are team-based online learning experiences. They are the primary mode of learning within Nomadic. In Programs you are assigned to a team and go through the Field Manuals with them, collaborating and sharing ideas. Programs are also usually time bound, with a fixed start and fixed end date. Programs typically contain between three and eight Field Manuals.
A Field Manual is Nomadic's basic unit of learning. Think of them as chapters in a book, or classes in a course of study. Every Nomadic Program contains between 4-8 Field Manuals.
You can access your Field Manuals by first opening one of your programs and then selecting any of the Field Manuals in that Program.
A Resource is a single piece of learning content designed for you to complete on your own, when you want. A Resource may contain a video, a short case, or an article. They start with a brief overview and conclude with a quiz. Some resources contain comment threads. You must complete the quiz and add a comment (if a comment section exists) in order to complete the Resource.
Resources are not mandatory and you do not earn points toward Program leaderboards for completing them; however, they will enhance the learning experience and provide small digestible pieces of real time learning.
You can start with either Field Manuals or Resources and easily switch between the two on the Program Home Page. If your Program has not yet started, you can jump in right away with Resources. Your landing page will be your Programs pages, click on the Resources link above your programs to go to the Resources page.
In a Program, Field Manuals are organized in the sequence in which we recommend they are studied. Your organization may want you to study the Field Manuals in a particular order. Pay attention to any notices from your administrator to ensure that you complete Field Manuals when you are supposed to do so.
To select a new Field Manual within the same Program, go to the side menu in the Field Manual you are currently studying and select the next Field Manual directly from the side menu. You can also select the "Home" link to go back to your Program home page, and select other Field Manuals from there.
To switch between Programs, just use the Program menu located at the top left of the Program home page screen. Select the downward-pointing arrow to open the drop-down menu and either choose a specific Program or choose "All Programs" which will take you an overview of all the programs you are studying.
You can check out the full Resource Library by using the pull down menu and selecting “Resource Library” or by clicking “Resources” within the top navigation bar (depending on which page you are on).
Most Resources will take between 3-15 minutes to complete. Each Resource preview (on the Library Page) contains an estimate of the time it will take to complete the Resource. In some cases, additional information or links are provided that may not be included in the estimate.
While you are in a Field Manual, open the side menu and scroll down to the Field Manual you are currently in. You will see your progress below the Field Manual title. You can click on each item below the progress bar to go to the content or activity you still need to do to complete the Field Manual.
On your Program home page, every Field Manual cover also has a progress bar below the title of the Field Manual which displays the % you have completed thus far.
To reach 100% completion of a Field Manual you must:
You will be awarded a badge for the Field Manual once you have reached 100% completion.
You go through each Nomadic program in a cohort of between 20-50 of your colleagues or classmates. You interact with users in your cohort by replying or voting for their comments, sharing content with them and through other interactive learning elements such as polls.
You can check out the activity of all the users in your cohort in the activity feed and you can see how you are doing in the Program compared to your colleagues or classmates on the leaderboard.
Nomadic is designed to be accessible on any device (desktop, laptop, tablet and smartphone) with a modern browser, including Chrome, Safari, Firefox, IE 8-11 and Android native browsers. On desktops and laptops, please make sure you have an up-to-date version of flash installed in order to play video.

In some programs you may be competing with other teams who are studying the program at the same time as you. You can see how your team is doing on the Team Leaderboard.
The points scored by all the members of your team are combined to give your team score, which is then compared to the other teams you are competing with.
The percentages represent how many learners in your group have chosen each answer. If you select a correct answer your answer will become a solid green box after submitting your answers. If you select an incorrect answer your answer will become a solid red box and the correct answer will have a green outline. How many answers you get correct and the points you have earned for the quiz will be shown at the bottom of the quiz.
In each Field Manual you will see a star icon at the bottom of each main piece of content (cases, videos, core concepts, etc). Click or tap on the star icon to favorite a piece of content.
At the end of each main piece of content (cases, videos, core concepts, etc) you can select the notes icon to add a note to that piece of content. Notes are private and can only be seen by the person who made the note.
You can access your favorites on the program home page and in your profile. A note is visible right on the page where you made the note. You can also access notes from your profile and from the Program Home page.
In any comment section you can mention other users in your program by typing “@“ plus the user’s name. A notification email is sent to the user that you mention. It’s a great way to draw someones attention to your comment or to give someone recognition for an interesting comment they made.
